The Sovereignty of God in History & Creation

What a beautiful Psalm. Who made the heavens and the earth?

For the word of the Lord  is right, And all His work is  done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord . By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Psalm 33:4-6 NKJV

The word of the Lord made the heavens and the earth by the breath of His mouth!  I truly believe that we should carry ourselves in the light of the Lord. We can be a reflection of His light. Just as He fills the sky with sunlight, the earth is full of His goodness. His signature can be found in His creation.

How powerful are all of the nations’ plans compared to His?

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. Psalm 33:10-11 NKJV

So, what is a nation to do?

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord , The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. Psalm 33:12 NKJV

Are we fashioned as individuals or as a collective?

From the place of His dwelling He looks On all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their works. Psalm 33:14-15 NKJV

This makes me admire what happened at the conception of the United States. Those that founded this nation were not perfect people. We are not perfect people now, nor ever will be. But, they were aiming to create a nation that recognized the sovereignty of God. They understood the value of the individual. We were an experiment of freedom.

How can we refocus as a nation? It starts with individual responsibility. Our hope must be in the Lord.

Behold, the eye of the Lord  is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord ; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O Lord , be upon us, Just as we hope in You. Psalm 33:18-22 NKJV
